Finding natural and sustainable products to buy is much easier than it once was, and there’s some great shops based in the UK selling a really wide range of products. These online ‘supermarkets’ mean you can buy everything from shampoo to bin bags in one place, minimising deliveries and packaging. They’re a great place to browse for things you didn’t even know you needed too!
Here’s my favourite picks for home and body
Great range of home and body products, including one of the best make-up ranges I’ve seen. Buying make-up online is always a bit risky, but I loved option of a 2g ‘tester’ biodegradable pouch of Love the Planet mineral foundation, giving me enough for a really good test before investing more. Santa kindly put some bath bombs from The Salty Herb in my stocking this year and they’re just the thing in hot bath after a cold walk.
Plenty of love about this site with a massive range of products, which also includes Clothing and Pet categories. It’s tackling something I think is a concern for many as well; when you do away with plastic, are you not just pushing the problem somewhere else? For every order placed, a tree is planted, meaning you’re free to rejoice in all that lovely cardboard packaging.
This was one of the first shops I ever bought anything eco I think. I was travelling a fair bit for work, and was looking for hand luggage friendly toiletries, and this was one of the only places I found selling toothpaste tablets with Fluoride. I’m not going to lie, they are a bit of an acquired taste, but are brilliant for travelling with, and the Argan oil conditioner bar is the best I’ve tried so far. I really love the ‘why is it better?’ explanation on the products, because sometimes it’s difficult to know.
The original high street conscious store is everything it always was, with ranges tailored to different skin and hair types in delicious smelling fragrances. I’ve been buying through a Body Shop at Home consultant, who has access to extra discounts and deals, and I'm really loving the products. The Nicaraguan Coffee Intense Awakening Mask is a particular favourite, as it leaves my skin feeling really soft, and it smells just like an Espresso Martini!
This site is massive! As well as categories for just about anything you can think of, it also allows you to sort products by ethics such as Vegan, Fairtrade and Organic. I’m a sucker for nice glassware, mostly picking it up from charity shops, and they have a nice range of recycled glasses as well as a really extensive Bed & Bath range which looks great.
These online ‘supermarkets’ are great but quite quickly make random and unplanned purchases. I want to see more of these products in actual supermarkets so I can be making these choices in my weekly shop.
